On the morning after the assault ANC officers arrived within the settlement. There have been no police to protect us whereas we have been being attacked but many, many police came with them. Whereas the police and the officers were there the same individuals who had attacked us the night earlier than demolished our houses and looted them. At the very least 27 homes have been destroyed and plenty of extra were looted. All of them belonged to individuals elected to positions within the KRDC or Abahlali baseMjondolo (AbM). The police did nothing to stop the destruction of houses and the looting from houses. Supt.
