After the politicians and the police departed from Kennedy Street the settlement was left in the arms of the local ANC – armed younger males patrolled and made it clear, by way of dying threats, that AbM was now banned from Kennedy Road. In addition they made it clear that independent media were also banned. Looting and numerous kinds of intimidation continued. The eviction of a few of our leaders and the arrest of others was followed by the destruction of our office leaving us with out access to email and telephone. When our members arrived from other settlements to try to save our data and banners within the office they were threatened with loss of life.
